Squidbawls

 Final Product
Squidbawls from Jason Engel on Vimeo.

In the final product, I used Final Cut for multiple edits.  The video is now a little bit longer because of jump cuts, twists, turns, and color changes.  The idea of the piece is that inside the squid is a bunch of characters from a television show that have an inner beast and every time he his hit with a cheese ball, or the tennis ball gets in his way, something happens and he gets angry.  The color changes and twists and turns indicate what is going on with this non-verbal squid.  The purple octopus that makes multiple appearances is actually one of those characters erupting into his beast form.

In the beginning I wanted to take a video of a still object, so I just a squid hat that I think is hysterical. I did not want to move the camera at all and I tried to keep the squid as still as possible. Although he turns a little bit, I am okay with it because it displays that he gets hit with these balls. In it I throw cheese balls at him and my two friends dropped tennis balls as if it coming out of him and he wants no more to do with it. The end shot of the shadow moving up and down is me moving the actual light up and down. It is supposed to be interpreted as he is trying to get away from this madness.
